Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cost of installing home solar panels in Malaysia?
In 2026, a 5.58 kWp solar system for a terrace house starts at RM16,499. Systems for semi-detached homes, usually between 8.68 kWp and 10.54 kWp, generally cost from RM20,499 to RM24,999. These package prices cover the panels, inverter, mounting equipment, installation, and SEDA and TNB application work.
Does home solar make financial sense in Malaysia?
For many homeowners, yes. A well-sized system can lower the monthly TNB bill and recover its cost over several years.
Depending on your energy use, package price, solar output, and incentive eligibility, the estimated payback period may be around four to six years. The panels can continue producing electricity long after the initial cost has been recovered.
How can I finance a home solar installation?
Malaysian homeowners may apply for green financing from banks such as Public Bank, CIMB, Maybank, RHB, and BSN. Indicative rates may start near 3.5% per year, with repayment periods of up to ten years and possible zero-down-payment options.
Selected credit cards may also offer interest-free installment plans lasting 12 to 36 months. Approval, rates, and terms depend on the bank and the applicant’s financial profile.
Can homeowners still receive a government solar rebate?
The RM4,000 SolaRIS incentive ended in April 2025 and no longer accepts applications. Two different solar programmes apply in 2026. Solar ATAP provides bill credits for eligible electricity exported to the grid.
The SuRIA Home solar rebate may provide RM600 per kWac, capped at RM3,000. The rebate is intended for eligible domestic TNB customers. It is limited to one claim per customer and is expected to run until 31 December 2026 or until the RM150 million allocation is fully used.
The approved amount is paid into the registered customer’s bank account after the system becomes operational. We can prepare and manage the required applications.
Will I need to pay extra installation fees later?
No hidden charges are added to our agreed package price. The quotation includes solar panels, inverter, mounting equipment, wiring, labour, required applications, smart-meter conversion support, and Solar ATAP registration.
Any optional upgrades or site-specific work will be clearly stated before you sign the agreement.
What are the usual solar panel prices in Malaysia?
Home solar prices vary according to system capacity, equipment brand, roof condition, property location, and installation difficulty. Entry-level systems may begin at around RM9,999 for 3 kW.
A 5 kW system may start near RM14,999, while larger 8 kW and 10 kW systems may cost around RM28,000 and RM33,000. Always compare complete installed prices rather than panel prices alone.
How much can a household save each month with solar?
Monthly savings often range from RM200 to RM800, but every household is different. A terrace house may save around RM200–350 each month.
A larger home with higher daytime electricity use may save RM800 or more. The final amount depends on system size, weather, electricity consumption, tariff rates, and how much solar energy is used directly inside the home.
